Laser Cut Workshop 6

We were set a brief to make a 3D piece, a box shape fitting together with slots. We were also given a choice of materials, wood acrylic etc. Here's my template, I drew a couple of designs on it then cut out some bars on the sides. I also did some engraving which didn't work so well on the bear but the other design I used three different depths of engraving, this was far more interesting when it came out.

I put a candle in it as I thought it look nice !

The lid and all the pieces fitted together first time, I was pretty pleased with that. If I was to again I would add more engraving with more layers. It was quite effective but making it more intricate and complex you could really create some nice patterns on this cast acrylic.

If I was going to develop a 3D character further I would do something like this with allot off joints and slots,  I would also consider using magnets to have different elements be detachable.
